I have decided to keep a journal of my thoughts and deeds over the coming year. A daily chart of my progress through the echelons of command, so that perhaps one day, other aspiring officers may seek enlightenment through these pages. It is my fond hope that, one day, this journal will take its place alongside ‘Napoleon’s War Diaries’ and ‘The Memories of Julius Caesar’.

I decided to start a blog so I had an easy way to document some of my Electronic Projects. Previously I would just write notes on scraps of paper that happen to be laying on my desk later to be thrown away once I got sick of all the paper laying around. I don’t expect to get a ton of hits from this blog and I won’t be surprised if I don’t get any at all…but maybe there is a geek out there just like me that might find some of this information interesting…if not useful.
My name is Chris and this is me:

After high school I attended UVSC – Utah Valley State College (Now UVU – Utah Valley University). I was studying computer science. I really enjoyed programming in C & C++, but I realized that the programming field was getting saturated and I worried about carrier opportunities and frequent layoffs. I wanted to still be in a related field but I needed something different.
I then found the Electronics program at ITT Technical Institute. A fast paced program where I could earn a Bachelors Degree in 3 years. So I transferred. It was a good program but there were some teachers that shouldn’t teach…but you probably get that everywhere you go.
In 2000 I received my Associates of Applied Science Degree in Electronic Engineering Technology. I was valedictorian of my class with perfect attendance and I also received the Directors Award. I then found a job as an Electronic Technician working at a small company that made X-Ray Detectors and X-Ray Tubes. I learned quite a bit more at there then I ever learned in school. I was still attending school in the evenings for my Bachelors degree. A month or two before graduating I was promoted to Electronic Engineer which was in 2001.
I’ve had the opportunity to design multi-layer PCBs, Rigid-Flex PCBs, Analog & Digital circuits, custom cable assemblies, automated test systems, PID controllers and much much more. I’ve also been able to use my programming skills to program micro-controllers using C and also other programs using Visual Studios Visual Basic. It’s nice to design a piece of hardware, program it and then program the computer interface program for it. I’ve had a great variety of projects to work on that have expanded my skill set in Electronics and programming.
One of my other hobbies is Salt Water Reef Aquariums. I have over 300 gallons of Salt Water in my house, with a variety of corals, shrimp, fish, anemones and crabs.
Feel free to post any comments about any of my posts…especially if I’ve posted something that is wrong…I’m not perfect and frequently make stupid mistakes.
